YOSA’s commitment to workforce development extends far beyond music education.
Through programs such as Noteworthy Teens, the YOSA Jr. Alumni Association, and career exploration opportunities including college and career fairs, YOSA helps young people develop the professional skills, networks, and confidence needed to succeed in higher education and the workforce.
These initiatives reflect YOSA’s belief that the discipline, creativity, and collaborations learned through music can serve as powerful foundations for future career success.
The Noteworthy Teens program provides students with hands-on leadership and fundraising experience that mirrors many real-world professional environments.
Participants are challenged to set goals, build teams, create campaign strategies, communicate with diverse audiences, and inspire others to support a cause they believe in. The program encourages students to develop skills in project management, public speaking, networking, teamwork, and relationship building—competencies that employers consistently identify as critical workforce skills.
Through the campaign process, students learn how to lead with purpose, collaborate effectively, and engage their communities around a shared vision.
YOSA’s workforce development efforts continue through the Jr. Alumni Association, which supports young adults ages 18-22 as they navigate the transition from high school to college, careers, military service, and other postsecondary pathways.
