“I've grown as a musician and made lifelong friends. I truly can't imagine my childhood without YOSA.”
-Elaine, Class of 2019
The mission of Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, the premier orchestral experience for youth citywide, is to enhance education, enrich the community, and transform lives by pursuing excellence in classical music in a stimulating, nurturing, and fun environment that is equally accessible to all youth.
YOSA invests in the future of music and the next generation of leaders. We provide transformative music experiences to more than 2,500 young musicians ages 8-20 through YOSA Orchestras, YOSA Summer Symphony Camp, and YOSA School Partnerships. These programs provide instruction from San Antonio’s most respected professional musicians, perform in the world’s great concert halls, and gain skills necessary for a successful future.
YOSA alumni go on to play in the world’s finest orchestras and ensembles, and are also found working as doctors, lawyers, teachers, community leaders, and business professionals. Whether or not a graduate continues music studies after their time in YOSA, young people leave with increased self-confidence, a strong sense of discipline, and a deep appreciation for music and the arts.
YOSA has a deep community connection in San Antonio dating back to the late 1940’s. Find out more about how YOSA has changed kids’ lives through music for more than 70 years.
YOSA musicians go on to perform in the world’s finest orchestras and music ensembles. They are found as teachers in conservatories and universities across the United States and abroad. They go on to become community leaders, doctors, lawyers, business professionals and entrepreneurs.
