Voices of Nature
February 28, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. | Tobin Center
YOSA Philharmonic joins forces with the San Antonio Mastersingers for an evening of chorus and orchestra celebrating one of music's most enduring themes: the power and beauty of nature.
Gabriela Ortiz’s Kauyumari opens the night by conjuring the sacred blue deer of indigenous Mexican lore, while Alexander Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances pulses with the elemental energy of Central Asian nomads, music that has stirred audiences for over a century.
The evening culminates in a world premiere of a new choral-orchestral work by YOSA Music Director Troy Peters, setting nature-inspired poetry by Julie Cadwallader-Staub to music for the very first time.
Rounding out the night, 2026/27 YOSA Concerto Competition winner takes the stage in a showcase of rising young talent, and YOSA Concertino Strings makes an appearance.
Repertoire Includes:
Ortiz—Kauyumari
Borodin—Polovtsian Dances
Peters—new work for chorus and orchestra (world premiere)
Plus an appearance by YOSA Concertino Strings
