Mariachi Seminar

July 20–25, 2026

Recommended Musician Level:

  • Ages 13-18

  • Instruments: Violin, guitar, vihuela, guitarron, or trumpet

  • At least two years of playing experience for all musicians

Hours & Location

  • 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
    9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday,
    with a final concert at 11:00 a.m.

Mariachi Seminar at YOSA Summer Symphony Camp is a focused week for teen mariachi musicians to learn new songs, develop their fluency in different traditional styles, and have lots of fun, Directed by Miguel Guzmán of San Antonio’s renowned Mariachi Los Galleros, activities include instrumental study, ensemble rehearsal, master classes in various traditional styles, plus games and other engaging nonmusical activities. 

The week culminates in a final concert on Saturday, July 25.

About the Conductor

Miguel Guzman is a renowned Mariachi musician and educator with 34 years experience as a professional musician and 30 years as a Mariachi educator. He is also the YOSA Mariachi conductor since the ensemble was added to the YOSA season in 2023.
