Classics III: 50th Anniversary Celebration
May 16, 2027, at 7:00 p.m. | Tobin Center
Join the YOSA Philharmonic to celebrate 50 years of music, learning, and community at YOSA’s 50th Anniversary Celebration!
This milestone concert revisits YOSA’s beginnings with Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite, the first work ever performed by the orchestra, in a special side-by-side performance featuring current musicians and alumni.
Acclaimed cellist and YOSA alumna Christine Lamprea returns to the stage as soloist in Dmitri Kabalevsky’s Cello Concerto No. 1, plus an appearance by the next generation of young artists, YOSA Intermezzo Strings. The celebration culminates with three iconic movements from Gustav Holst’s The Planets—Mars, Venus, and Jupiter—a musical tribute to YOSA’s past, present, and future.
As YOSA honors five decades of transforming young lives through music, this concert also marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter with the opening of YOSA’s first permanent home, a place that will inspire San Antonio’s young musicians for generations to come.
Repetoire Includes:
Khachaturian—“Masquerade” Suite
Kabalevsky—Cello Concerto No. 1
Holst—Mars, Venus, and Jupiter from “The Planets”
Plus an appearance by YOSA Intermezzo Strings
