An Important Update About YOSA’s Future
Dear YOSA friends, families, and supporters,
Today, we are sharing important news about YOSA's future.
After 18 extraordinary years as Music Director, Troy Peters has announced that our landmark 2026/27 50th Anniversary Season will be his final year with YOSA. Troy's wife, Anne, has accepted the position of Vice President of Marketing at the University of South Carolina, and following the anniversary season, Troy and his family will relocate to South Carolina.
We want to begin by assuring you of one thing: YOSA's mission, programs, and commitment to your children remain as strong as ever.
For nearly two decades, Troy has helped shape YOSA into the organization it is today. Under his artistic leadership, YOSA has grown from just over 200 musicians to more than 600. He expanded our programs by launching six new orchestras, including YOSA Mariachi, introduced innovative concert experiences like Classic Albums Live, and helped make YOSA a nationally respected leader in youth music education. Just as importantly, Troy has helped create a culture where students are challenged musically, supported personally, and inspired to become confident leaders both on and off the stage.
While we will certainly celebrate Troy's remarkable legacy throughout the coming year, we are equally excited about YOSA's future. Planning has begun for a thoughtful transition by forming a search committee that will conduct a national search for YOSA's next Music Director. This deliberate process will ensure strong artistic leadership for YOSA's 51st season and beyond.
At the same time, YOSA has never been stronger. We are preparing to move into our new Fine Arts Center in 2027, the first dedicated facility of its kind for a youth orchestra in Texas. This extraordinary new home represents an investment in generations of young musicians and reflects the strength and momentum of our organization.
As Troy shared with us:
"I am grateful to have been a part of YOSA for more than a third of its history. Over the coming year, I look forward to leading a successful 50th Anniversary Season of dynamic performances, doing everything I can to support the success of our capital campaign, and helping lay the groundwork for a smooth and stable transition to the next Music Director. I am excited and enthusiastic about YOSA's bright future as it moves into a new home in 2027."
The heart of YOSA has always been our students. That will not change. Our mission remains unchanged: changing kids’ lives through music.
With gratitude,
Jerrod Price
Executive Director
