Cinema Classics I November 2, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. I Tobin Center
YOSA Philharmonic brings the magic of the movies to the concert hall in Cinema Classics, showcasing the powerful role orchestral music plays in film.
From haunting drama to epic adventure, this evening explores the deep connection between orchestral music and film. Mussorgsky’s thrilling Night on Bald Mountain, famously featured in Disney’s Fantasia, sets the stage with its dark, dramatic energy. Vaughan Williams’ lyrical Prelude from 49th Parallel captures the emotional heart of a wartime story, while Hanson’s lush and romantic Symphony No. 2, used in the final scene of Alien, showcases emotional depth behind bold storytelling.
No cinematic concert would be complete without John Williams, and YOSA Philharmonic delivers with a sweeping suite from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, bringing heroic themes to life. As a special highlight, the talented young musicians of YOSA Sinfonietta Strings will make an appearance, adding to this evening of musical storytelling.
Whether you're a film fan, a classical music lover, or just looking for an epic night out, Cinema Classics is not to be missed!

Led by Conductor Annette Solano, this ensemble will open the performance.
