Former YOSA Music Director Returns to Conduct Symphony Orchestra

Terence Frazor is YOSA's Interim Symphony Orchestra Conductor for the 2009-2010 season. Mr. Frazor was Music Director for YOSA from 1984 to1992, leading the organization through a period of significant growth. Under his leadership, YOSA began a triennial touring cycle. He took the Philharmonic Orchestra on two tours to Eastern and Central Europe. He currently serves as a full-time adjunct professor at the University of the Incarnate Word and is conductor for the Orchestra of the Incarnate Word, a program he has expanded to include more area educators and amateur musicians as well as students from San Antonio's colleges and universities.

From 2003 to 2008, Mr. Frazor was conductor of UTSA's Chamber Orchestra, and he led UTSA Lyric Opera productions of Die Fledermaus (Strauss) and The Medium (Menotti). He also has held the position of Music Director and Conductor of the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, Mid Texas Symphony and the Bel Canto Opera Company in New York City.

As guest conductor, Terence has led many internationally recognized orchestras including the Zurich Symphony Orchestra (Switzerland), Bournemouth Sinfonietta (Great Britain), the National Orchestra of El Salvador, the Sao Paulo State Symphony (Brazil), the UNAM Philharmonic in Mexico City, the National Orchestra of Monaco and the Brooklyn Philharmonic (New York City).

Mr. Frazor began his musical studies at Montreal's McGill University and later diplomas in conducting from the Mozarteum (Salzburg) and the Mannes College of Music (New York City). His primary teachers include Herbert von Karajan and Igor Markevitch (Mozarteum) as well as Alexander Brott (McGill). He also held the position of assistant conductor to the legendary Leopold Stokowski at the American Symphony Orchestra (New York City).
