Preparatory Ensembles
Symphony Orchestra, ages 11-17
YOSA’s intermediate level full orchestra, conducted by Terence Frazor, provides an excellent launching pad into full orchestral repertoire and gives students an opportunity to perform at a more advanced level.
Rehearsals: Sundays from 1:30 - 4 p.m. at the UTSA Main Campus (1604)
Sinfonietta Strings, ages 9-14
The most advanced of YOSA’s three string orchestras; the Sinfonietta Strings, conducted by Lisa McCutchan, allows emerging talented students to hone their skills in an ensemble environment prior to advancement to the Symphony.
Rehearsals: Sundays from 4:10 - 6 p.m. at UTSA Main Campus (1604)
Capriccio Strings, ages 7-12
Conducted by Nile Mendoza Wilson, Capriccio Strings offers an ensemble environment for students with two to three years of playing experience on their instrument. Students are expected to be proficient at music reading and are developing many performance techniques which are honed through their repertoire.
Rehearsals: Tuesdays from 6:30 - 8 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Castle Hills
Prelude Strings, ages 6-10
Prelude Strings, conducted by Rebecca Browne, is designed for elementary school students with one to two years of playing experience. For most students, this is their first experience performing in an ensemble.
Rehearsals: Tuesdays from 6 - 7 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Castle Hills
