YOSA Summer String Camp

What is YOSA Summer String Camp?
YOSA Summer String Camp is the only program of its kind in the San Antonio metropolitan area. This two-week day camp provides intensive instruction in orchestral studies, string technique, music theory, composition and chamber music. This is an excellent opportunity for young string musicians to strengthen their musical skills during the summer.
YOSA is currently holding registration for the 2010 Summer String Camp. Any string player ages 8-18 with at least one year of experience on violin, viola, cello or bass is eligible.
2010 Camp Highlights Included:

Camp debut of YOSA Music Director Troy Peters
-Six orchestras of varying ability levels
-Theory, composition, conducting techniques and chamber music classes

-Instruction in using state-of-the-art music software, including notation programs

-Crafts and PE activities for students at Junior Campus
-A special Young Peoples’ Concert presented by Cactus Pear Music Festival
-Sectional coaching with outstanding camp faculty and Cactus Pear Music Festival Young Artists in Residence
-Multiple concert performances featuring all YOSA Summer String Camp students

-Group outing and center court half-time performance at a San Antonio Silver Stars basketball game at AT&T Center
-YOSA offers free early drop-off (from 8 a.m.) and late pick-up (until 5 p.m.) on both campuses

For all students with one to two years playing experience. No audition is required.
