YOSA Music Learning Center

YOSA's Music Learning Center is a free after-school program offering free loaned instruments and music instruction to students on the City's West Side. With minimal music programs in their schools, this program gives an opportunity for those students wanting to learn a string instrument. The program is led by MLC Instructor Maggie Raveneau.

Modeled after El Sistema in Venezuela, the program consists of students grades K-7 who reside in zip codes 78237 and 78207. The Center is located at Good Samaritan Community Services and launched its first season in September 2009, serving over 160 students.

In the fall of 2008, YOSA launched the Music Learning Center pilot program in partnership with Good Samaritan Community Services. The Music Learning Center performed their debut concert on Thursday, May 7, 2009 showcasing what the students had learned over the season.
