Thomas E. Sanders is an attorney and shareholder with Cox Smith Inc, joining the San Antonio firm in June 2008. Prior to this appointment he was a Partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP for 12 years. Sanders has had a long association with YOSA. He was a member of YOSA from sixth grade playing cello under conductors, Thomas Jensen, James Sedares and Terence Frazor. After attending the University of North Texas (BA English) and then graduating from the University of Texas with a law degree, he returned to San Antonio and was soon asked to join the YOSA Board by then Chair, Mollie Zachry. He served until 2000.

Sanders has been recognized as a "Texas Rising Star" by Law and Politics Magazine (2009), Scene in SA, "San Antonio's Best Lawyers" (2008) and the Pro Bono College, State Bar of Texas (2007 & 2008). He is married with three young children.
