Harvey Biskin

Harvey Biskin was a conductor and the Principal Percussionist with the San Antonio Symphony.

His programs included Symphony performances at concerts of YOSA and its predecessor organizations. For 35 years, Harvey was the Educational Director for the San Antonio Symphony. He wrote scripts about each concert, coordinated appropriate excerpts from the music to be performed and trained docents to go into the schools. When Harvey began the Symphony’s program, one concert was performed each month. With heightened awareness, more schools wanted to participate. Harvey reached at least 100 schools each month and was in every school district in San Antonio. Over 30 years, this activity grew until it reached approximately 95,000 young people annually.
