Jonathan Raveneau

Jonathan Raveneau also conducts the Cavatina Orchestra for the Hill Country Youth Orchestras. Mr. Raveneau is a versatile and eclectic musician with specialties ranging from classical to jazz in both instrumental and vocal genres. As a full scholarship student, he earned a Baccalaureate in Music Performance from Baylor University with an emphasis in classical violin. He has performed in the Baylor Symphony; Temple Symphony; San Angelo Symphony and the Waco Symphony. While at Baylor, Mr. Raveneau participated in the budding jazz program and performed for master-classes led by Fred Sturm, John Faddis, Maria Schneider, and Wycliffe Gordon and was a founding member of the Baylor Jazz String Quartet.
In August of 2006, Mr. Raveneau received a full scholarship to the University of Miami in Florida and began his graduate career with studies in Classical and Jazz Violin in the studio of Glenn Basham and Jazz Vocal in the studio of Dr. Rachel Lebon. He has performed and toured with such groups as: Overthetop (an accapella jazz vocal group); University of Miami Orchestra; University of Miami Jazz String Quartet; Shades of Six; Strings Unwound; the Clark Chamber Players; and the University of Miami Studio Jazz Band. He also participated in a master-class with Casey Driessen and in January, 2008, guest performed with the Rock Orchestra, Rochestra, in Sioux City, Iowa. Mr. Raveneau is the first graduate student from the University of Miami to receive a Masters in Jazz Violin.
