Brandon Henson, Executive Director

Brandon Henson, originally from Illinois, graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Administrative Management. Brandon has been a professional bassist working with legendary musical acts over the past ten years.

Ben HackettDevelopment Assistant

A native of San Antonio, Ben Hackett joined YOSA in 2013 after completing his Master’s in Music Theory and Composition from Montclair State University in New Jersey. He is a graduate of Roosevelt High School and Texas Tech University. Ben is also an active composer and euphonium performer.

Martha BryantGrant Writer

Martha Bryant, Ph.D., joined YOSA in 2012 with development experience in social services, education, and the arts, including time with New World Symphony. Her qualifications include a love of music and the personal experience of the life-changing benefits derived from classical music performance starting at age 11 when she began learning to play the oboe.

Garrett Lefkowtiz, Operations Director

Garrett joined YOSA in October 2016. Born in New York, Garrett moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1999, calling the city home ever since. He attended Albion College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and Political Science. He then elected to continue his education, receiving a Master of Music in Clarinet Performance from THE Ohio State University as well as later receiving a Master of Arts in Arts Administration from Florida State University. Garrett has worked with such organizations as Interlochen Center for the Arts and Tallahassee Youth Orchestras, and is ecstatic to now be working with the YOSA organization.

Tyler Benware, Operations Manager

Tyler joined YOSA in November 2015. An Indiana native, he graduated from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in music and communication. While at DePauw, he studied oboe, piano, and composition. Before coming to YOSA, Tyler interned at the Indianapolis and Anderson Symphony Orchestras and at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. He also enjoys songwriting and has written a full-length musical comedy.

Alex Flores, Operations Assistant

Alex joined the YOSA team in January 2017, a month after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Marketing, minor in Business Administration, and Certificate in Audio Technology from The University of Texas at San Antonio. Although born in the Rio Grande Valley, she is proud to call San Antonio her hometown. Music has long been a staple in Alex’s life. She is a classically-trained vocalist, as well as a songwriter, and enjoys performing locally.

Alfonso Gonzales, Bookkeeper

Alfonso joined the YOSA staff in April 2007. He has worked in the accounting and finance field for more than 40 years supporting a variety of companies. Born and raised in San Antonio, Alfonso worked in New York City much of his professional career. He returned to San Antonio in 1992.

Kathleen Messina, Office Coordinator

With roots that run deep in San Antonio, Kathleen brings a variety of experiences to YOSA.  Kathleen has a background in education as well as extensive corporate and nonprofit experience. Kathleen’s early musical experiences have led to a lifelong appreciation music and understanding of its ability to enrich lives.
